ABOUT US
Daniel Lumber Company was established in 1918. When Thomas A.
Daniel purchased H.W. Caldwell Lumber Supply a 318 Main Street after
his death in 1934, the business was continued by his six sons.
During the years from the 30’s til the mid 70’s, Daniel Lumber
Company, was not only a General Contractor, but also ran a sawmill and
building supply business. In 1976, Daniel Lumber sold its building
supply operation to Lowe’s, turning its focus to construction and
roofing.
In 1988, Daniel Construction of LaGrange, Inc. was incorporated.
D&D Roofing, Inc., a long time division of Daniel Construction was
incorporated in 2004.
During these 90+ years, Daniel has constructed a number of
notable projects, including the “Little White House” in Warm Springs,
built for then New York governor Franklin D. Roosevelt. Other projects
include dozens of area churches; Rosemont Baptist, Advent Lutheran,
Franklin Road Baptist, First Baptist Family Life Center, and East Vernon
Baptist, Callaway Baptist Sanctuary (completed September of 2010) just
to name a few.
At LaGrange College we constructed the new Fuller E. Callaway
Student Center. In 1996 we renovated the Smith Hall Building and in 2003
we renovated Boatwright Hall. In 1996 we built the “Hospice LaGrange”
facility, at West Georgia Medical Center, which was funded by Ely
Callaway.
In the LaGrange Industrial Park, our projects include the Dow
Jones Plant, which prints the Wall Street Journal, and the Daniel
Radiator Plant, which is now Kleen-Tex Plant #4. In 2001 we constructed a
$2 million, design-build facility for Ply-Mart in Columbus and LaGrange
as well as Mountville Mills.
Daniel Construction has also worked with the local school system
and those in surrounding counties in the construction, renovations, and
additions of many of the school facilities.
Allen Daniel serves as president of Daniel Construction while
Walter Daniel is the Vice President of Operations and David Dougherty is
the President of D&D Roofing, Inc.
During our more than 90 years in business, we feel we have
developed a solid reputation for producing quality projects in a cost
effective manner while meeting required schedules. We feel these
principles of quality & integrity, along with staying abreast of new
construction trends & technology will continue to guide us in the
future.
In the LaGrange Industrial Park, our projects include the Dow

Radiator Plant, which is now Kleen-Tex plant #4. In 2001, we constructed
a $2 million, design-build facility for Ply-Mart in Columbus and last
year worked with them on $1 million renovation for their new LaGrange
Facility. We recently completed our fourth addition at Mountville Mills,
more than doubling the size of their original plant.
Daniel Construction has also worked with the local school system
and those in surrounding counties in the construction, renovations, and
additions of school facilities in Heard, Meriwether, Coweta, Pike and
Troup counties.
In 2005, we received an AGC Build Georgia Award for construction
of the Visitor Center for Hills & Dales Estate, opened to the
public by the Fuller E. Callaway Foundation on October 4, 2004.
Both Daniel Construction of LaGrange, Inc. and D&D Roofing,
Inc. are members of Georgia Branch of AGL (Association of General
Contractors). Allen Daniel served in the AGL Board of Directors from
2007-2010.
